Expanded Dark Theme

Dark Mode & "Expanded" Theme Warning

Why am I seeing a warning about Dark Mode?

You are seeing this because you have Dark Mode enabled in your Android system settings.

At mySugr, your safety is our priority. Because glucose tracking relies on specific color-coding (like green for "in range"), we want to ensure your phone doesn't change those colors and lead to an incorrect therapy decision.

Is mySugr safe to use with my current Dark Mode?

It depends on which setting you have enabled in your Android 16 settings:

Standard Dark Theme: If mySugr still appears in Light Mode (white background), your app is safe. You can acknowledge the warning and keep your settings as they are.
Expanded Dark Theme: If mySugr has turned Black, this is unsafe. This setting forces colors to change in ways we haven't verified for medical safety. You must disable this setting.

How do I turn off the "Expanded Dark Theme"?

If your mySugr app has turned black, please follow these steps to restore safe visibility:

  1. Open your Android Settings.
  2. Go to Display > Dark Theme.
  3. Find Expanded Dark Theme and turn it OFF. (Note: You can keep your device's main "Standard" Dark Theme turned ON for your other apps.)

When will mySugr support a real Dark Mode?

We are currently developing a medically-safe Dark Mode. This will allow you to use a dark interface without compromising the accuracy of your glucose color-coding.
